Taking in the sides is a basic alteration, but not a simple one, or one easily reversed.Rented jackets never fit well--if you want fit, you have to buy. Some renters will at least hem the trousers and take in the sleeves. Try putting a hand in your pocket with the jacket buttoned. This can push the side in slightly, giving a bit more shape.
