Ulysses Failey: It's probably with a mental health professional, like a psychiatrist or psychologist rather than a regular GP. A mental health assessment could just be counselling, but more likely they will administer psychometric tests/questionnaires. These can help diagnose mental illnesses like bi-polar, depression, schizophrenia etc. they may also test for behavioural problems, intelligence, learning disabilities etc. and then help you find ways of managing any problems.
