Vernon Martorana: What is your carrier and your other phone?If you're using AT&T, then it is probably the issues with the fact taht the 7610 does NOT have the GSM 800/850 band, which AT&T uses as well as another band. Your other phone is probably a quadband and has the GSM 800/850 bandwith.If you're using T-mobile, try to go to the phone settings then the network selection and make it automatic, it could be that you have the phone set only to a specific one and not to search for all possible networks....Show more

Donte Hamme: I have Verizon and I know the exact answer to this I am on a family plan with my boyfriend he too has Verizon and we text all the time and its free because we both have Verizon now if he had t-mobile and I had Verizon then there would be a charge I'm not sure on the cost but mobile to mobile same carrier is always free other wise its extra I hope this answered your question have a good evening!!

May Stands: check www.tigerdirect.com they are the cheapest I have found anywhere... and they have every type of phone imaginable so even if you bought a cheap one and dropped it you could replace it and not cost you alot of money... actually I purchase everything from camera's to computers there as well.. you cant find anything cheaper and that has quality with a return policy... just go to the site and you will see many and then check your price range... thats my best advice..
