Buster Buchko: There's no such thing as the Mafia. It's called organized crime and part of their income is from gambling. Why it is illegal is beyond me. It is a totally harmless vice. The only time it becomes "illegal" is when the cops don't get paid off and the government doesn't get any tax money from it. The lottery can bankrupt someone just as quickly as football bets, so why is it still legal?
Sherrill Botting: om
Rosalba Lingner: the government isnt getting a share of the profits
Piedad Bassiti: Same as the regular gambling with the odds more in favor of the house - maybe with illegal shenanigans like loaded dice, roulette wheels, kino balls, etc. They also have the added advantage of not having to pay licensing fees and whatever else the government requires of legal gambling - much the same as the government treats illegal drug dealers....Show more
Loriann Carrigan: Gambling is illegal in most states, so they run gambling in those states. I! n Nevada and Atlantic city they just owned several casinos. The money comes in on it's own.
Samara Siewers: When it comes to gambling, "The house" wins 99.9% of the time regardless of what kind of wager it is.. And the Mafia is "the house".
Andrew Sinatra: Pretty similar to how the casinos do, can't beat the house.
Clementina Collelo: The most common illegal gambling is either bookies taking bets on sports events, or the numbers game. In both cases the gambling establishment does not pay taxes or licensing fees. So their profit margin is better than legal gambling even if they do not cheat or manipulate the games or odds. The amount of money bet in all types of gambling is enormous. If they only made 10% profit on the money bet they would still make millions each week.
